Federal Mandatory
Unified Carrier Registration (UCR)
Annual federal interstate registration for motor carriers, private fleets, brokers, and freight forwarders.
Key details on federal mandates, state weight thresholds, and turnaround times.
Who needs to register under UCR annually?
Any motor carrier operating commercial motor vehicles in interstate or foreign commerce, as well as brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies, are required to pay annual UCR fees based on their total commercial vehicle count.
How does the Oregon Temporary Pass work?
Oregon does not participate in IFTA for fuel and weight. Instead, it imposes a Weight-Mile tax. If you do not maintain a permanent Oregon account with a surety bond, you must purchase a single-trip temporary pass before entering the state, with fees based on registered weight and estimated miles.
